LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Excel Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular elective procedures in the UK. It's an effective method for the long-term reduction or removal of unwanted hair on the face and/or body. Our Excel HR is specifically designed for safe and effective laser hair removal on all skin and hair types. Excel HR can be used on legs, back, arms, face, underarms and results can be seen after a series of treatments.

Jeunesse is proud to offer cutting-edge laser technology using the CUTERA EXCEL HR SYSTEM for removal of unwanted hair anywhere on your body and with two different technologies at our disposal we are able to treat all skin types safely and effectively.

Does it work for all hair types?

No, there must be some pigment in the hair and the hair must be in the follicle in order to deliver energy to the growth point of the hair. No laser works for either blond or white hair. Hair can be fine or coarse, just as long as it has shades of brown or black in it.

How about my skin colour? We have the safest technology to treat all skin types and color. We only ask that you come in for treatment without any recent tanning as this pigmentation is very superficial in the skin and difficult to treat through, thus creating the risk of a burn or blister. No fake tans either! We can truly treat the fairest skin and the darkest skin all with great safety and effectiveness.

How many treatments does it take?

The usual range is 6 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart. The reason for this is that laser energy only treats hairs that are in the active growth phase and all of those treated in a single visit are not destroyed. In general, you will see a 50% reduction of hairs with each treatment. We then need 6 weeks to allow the hairs that recover to begin regrowth and join with those dormant hairs returning to active growth phase in order to be available for the next treatment.

Can I wax or pluck hairs in between the treatments?

No. It is OK to shave or use a chemical depilatory but remember the hair must be in the follicle in order to deliver the energy where it kills the follicle. No waxing, plucking or threading!

Is it painful?

Pain thresholds vary a lot based on the person and the location. We control a significant portion of the discomfort with our super-chilled cooling tips. Our state-of-the-art sapphire chilled tips really make the difference.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?

Treatment will take place in your practitioner’s office.
You will wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light. Your practitioner will guide the laser to the treatment areas with a small handpiece. Each laser pulse may be preceded and followed by a short pulse of cooling spray.
A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the area and condition being treated.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR TREATMENT?
Patients scheduled for hair removal should avoid plucking, electrolysis or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus and are scheduled for laser treatment, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. Also, your skin should be clean shaven, and your skin should be thoroughly cleansed and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anaesthetics or self-tanning products before laser treatment.
The intended treatment area should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth light for 14 days prior to treatment. Before laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above).

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for comfort following your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE AFTER TREATMENT?
After laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.
