A lot of women will consider the eyes as being their defining facial feature. After all, aren’t the eyes considered as being windows to the soul? This means that women spend a lot of time each day attempting to make their eyes stand out in the best possible way.

Mascara is definitely the most widely used product – many women wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without it on. Others rely on false eyelashes; every brand promising to be bigger and thicker than any other.

But what if there was an alternative to both mascara and false lashes?

Eyelash tinting has become a fantastic alternative to wearing mascara every day. Tinting is a brilliant option for those who don’t like the hassle of applying their makeup every day, for those who are allergic to mascara, or for those who don’t really wear makeup but still want their eyelashes to stand out.

What is Eyelash Tinting?

Eyelash tinting is basically the process of adding dye to your lashes and is designed to add the much sought after definition that every mascara brand promises. It’s perfect for those who have light coloured lashes and have to spend a lot of time trying to make them appear darker.

Lasting for up to 6 weeks, you won’t have to worry about applying mascara every morning. It should only be carried out by a beauty professional, as the eyes are incredibly sensitive and need looking after properly – one mistake could cause serious problems.

How Does it Work?

Here at Jeunesse Beauty, we require all new clients to come in for a patch test. This should be 48 hours before treatment. This is to ensure that you don’t have any allergic reactions to the dye that we use.

When you first arrive to have your eyelash tinting appointment, you’ll sit down and discuss colours with the beautician. Generally, the aim is to go a couple of shades darker than your normal lash colour.

It’s important that you don’t arrive wearing any makeup, but the area will be cleaned beforehand too. A barrier cream will be applied to your eyelids before the dye is put on. The dye is then applied to top and bottom lashes until the beautician is satisfied that they are fully coated. It is kept on for around 15 minutes and then rinsed off with water.

The whole thing should take no longer than half an hour.

The Benefits of Tinting?

There are lots of different benefits to eyelash tinting. As we discussed above, the tint should last for anything up to 6 weeks, meaning you don’t have to worry about makeup for this specific period.

Once applied, it needs little to no maintenance. It doesn’t run when it gets wet and looks perfectly natural. It will be expertly matched to your skin and hair colour, so you don’t have to worry about it looking false.

Just remember; always seek out a professional. Home tinting kits can be dangerous and have been known to cause eye problems. It’s a lot safer to pop along to a  salon and have it done properly!
