WHAT IS MELASMA?
|Melasma is a common skin problem that is also known as ‘chloasma’. It causes brown patches on the face; most commonly appearing on the cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead, chin, and above the upper lip. It also can appear on other parts of the body that get lots of sun. Hormone changes along with sun exposure are the most common triggers for melasma. Although melasma may affect both men and women, the majority of those affected are women. Individuals of Latin or Asian ethnicity are also more likely to get melasma.|
Stubborn pigmentation has stood between many clients and their desire for a radiant, even complexion. At Jeunesse MediSpa Clinic, Hatch End our Pigment Correcting Laser perfects skin tone and texture, anywhere on the face and body with minimal downtime.
Ageing, sun exposure and environmental factors can all come together to create freckles, age spots and discoloured patches which no amount of concealer will hide.
This skin pigmentation treatment is quick, painless, safe and can help you to improve the look of discoloured skin.
When melanin gathers in one spot, it appears as a discoloured area. The wavelengths of light produced by laser technology are designed to be absorbed by these pigmented areas; the powerful light then “shatters” the pigment, causing it to be dispersed by the body’s lymphatic system. The spots will gradually disappear.
